At Blackwood Primary School, pupils are normally set homework on a Monday and should hand it back in on the Friday. Homework mostly consists of a Literacy and Numeracy task and something topic related.

Primary 7 website club have worked hard to put together a list of different websites which you may find helpful to support you when doing your homework. We have grouped them as Literacy, Numeracy and Other Curricular Areas.

Literacy:

  • https://ec1.educationcity.com/ – “Education City is good for increasing your child’s knowledge in Literacy Another way to enjoy your homework” (Jamie, Farhaan, Lewis S and Harry, P7)
  • https://www.teachyourmonstertoread.com/u/370186 -“Teach your monster to read is really good for increasing your literacy skills. This helps children to point out words and to read sentences. To access this website you need a login, most of the P1-3 teachers have made logins for their class.” (Jamie and Farhaan, P7)
  • http://www.bbc.co.uk/education – “BBC Bitesize is good if you are looking for some good information for class projects and homework.” (Jamie and Lewis R, P7)

Internet Safety

“The No1 item on all parents/carers minds when children are using the web is Internet Safety.  It is of extremely important to us here at Blackwood Primary School too.  We urge ALL parents/carers to sit with their child and visit Childline and CEOP websites and read the very important internet safety guidelines.  If you, as a pupil, are ever concerned about anything that happens online, speak to a parent, teacher or someone you trust immediately. You can also report online behaviour on the CEOP website using the click and report button.”
